Mr. Peek has been practicing immigration law since 2002, handling a diverse range of cases, including family-based visas, deportation hearings, and business and investor visas. He is one of only 16 attorneys in Austin who is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Notably, he is also the only one in this group with over 20 years of experience in criminal law.

Jeff Peek earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to being a member of the Texas State Bar, Jeff is actively involved in several prestigious professional organizations, such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the American Bar Association, and the Austin Bar Association. He is deeply committed to his community, frequently appearing on local radio shows to discuss immigration issues, and is a member of Nueva Vida Hispanic Church in Austin.

The Road to Becoming an Immigration Lawyer
Born and raised in Austin, Jeff initially pursued degrees in history and sociology before earning his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law and being licensed in 2000. After law school, he returned to Austin and joined a local criminal defense firm, where he was drawn to the complex constitutional issues of criminal law. He found fulfillment in helping clients who had made poor choices regain their footing and get a second chance at life.

In 2002, Jeff took an eight-month break to live in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, where he became fluent in Spanish by immersing himself in the culture and language. Upon returning to Austin, he established The Law Office of Jeff Peek, practicing criminal defense, family law, immigration, and small estate planning.

In 2003, Jeff co-founded Evans & Peek, earning the nickname “El Abogado Guero que habla Español” (the “white attorney who speaks Spanish”). He developed strong ties with Austin’s Hispanic immigrant community, enjoying both personal and professional connections. In 2010, Jeff founded Peek Law Group, focusing primarily on immigration and criminal defense.
