Jerry was raised in the Nazarene Church and spent many years in full-time ministry before attending law school. Now an ordained Nazarene Minister, he serves as a part-time weekend worship pastor for Topeka First Church of the Nazarene. His faith in Jesus as the Son of the Living God is central to his life. Jerry is thankful to live in America, where freedom of religion is upheld, and he respects those with differing beliefs.

While the system is not infallible, he believes it plays a crucial role in providing order and justice in the community. As a pro tem judge in Johnson County District Court, Jerry values the opportunity to administer justice fairly and do what is right.

Jerry loves his country and appreciates the unique democratic experiment that America represents. He believes in hard work and personal responsibility, advocating for an even playing field that offers opportunities to those without privilege. He views the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights as fundamental and not merely suggestions. In tackling complex political issues, he emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and the need to evaluate situations from multiple perspectives.

Experience

Experience is key to Jerry’s successful legal career. He began his journey under the guidance of some of the best attorneys in Kansas, which equipped him for success as a private attorney in Olathe. He graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, later earning his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law. Jerry takes great pride in his work, having represented over 1,000 clients and litigated numerous cases through jury trials, bench trials, motion hearings, mediation, settlements, and other resolutions.

Jerry is licensed to practice in the Kansas and Missouri state bars and is the author of an article in The Journal of the Kansas Bar Association. He is a Licenses member of several legal organizations, including the Johnson County Bar Association, where he is a Fellow, and the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association. Jerry takes great pride in his work, having represented over 1,000 clients and litigated numerous cases through jury trials, bench trials, motion hearings, mediation, settlements, and other resolutions.
